I must admit that I didn't enjoy this second book nearly as much as the first. This book lacked something, and I'm not sure what. I did enjoy the story line. I feel there may have been too many things going on. I wish it had concentrated on Silas and Amy's feelings more and less on her aunt and uncle. Reading about this secondary character's story took away from the specialness of Amy and Silas' budding romance.

I also enjoyed reading about the rest of the Cameron family: Luke and Catherine's struggle during her pregnancy and Julia and Mac's fire then what they learned shortly afterwards. Those things were indeed related to Amy and Silas because they sent Silas in turmoil over the desire to have a child. I'm also appreciative of the fact that Amy was not pregnant at the end of the book. It showed that we don't always get what we want...

I was also a bit taken aback by Philip's sudden appearance. I understand it was an apparent build up for the next book (his story) and what will happen, but it seemed to be a bit out of place.

But with all that said, it was still a good read and well worth the time it took me. I very much enjoyed reading Amy and Silas' story and am happy Silas shaved off his beard and wasn't afraid to fall for an 18 year old woman. It was very sweet!

I can't wait to read the next one.

I actually made a mistake in one of my previous reviews, saying "A Place Called Home" was the second in the series. Oops! This one is actually the second in the series, but the whole series is one of my favs.
Love Lori Wick. Great books. Great story. My item was in good condition as expected. I ordered all 3 in the series at once. They were all in the condition as expected.
Maybe not as good as the first book in the series, but still a good book. I really enjoy finding these older books. This way I don't have to wait months for the next book to be released. If you enjoyed this book you'll love seeing Silas and Amy angin in book 4 - A Gathering of Memories.

This book is 1 of a series of 4 and to get a feel of the series which as a whole is excellent, you probably need to read it, but it just isn't my favorite of the four. It's based on the nicest of the 4 brothers and you see him again in another series which I won't tell you about...but all in all, it introduces you to Silas, to prepare you for the greater things he does later on down the road...or in the series. Lori Wick is one of the best Christian writers out there. You won't miss by reading her indivial books or her series.
I read this book in the 90s as a teenager, but had forgotten some of the details. The love story is more authentic (well-written) than in the first book, and the robbery mystery aspect of it really did have an unexpected conclusion! A worthwhile read!
